Fatima is of half-Gypsy, half-Egyptian descent. Her break-out
performance was at the FILA RAP JAM, which she won with her band Fekete
Vonat (Black Train) in 1997. The band has been extremely successful in Hungary—two
of their albums were double platinum and one gold. Their song, “Bilako” was
on top of the charts in France for three weeks. The band received much press
attention, with an appearance on CNN. Fekete Vonat has received many music
awards, including an award for Roma civil rights. Fekete
Vonat broke up
in 2003. In 2006, Fatima started her solo carreer. She is currently working
on her first solo album.
